Wealdstone Youth FC U11s Crowned JPL Premier National Champions
On the afternoon of Saturday the 30th of April, Wealdstone FC U11 JPL team celebrated a historic victory as they were crowned the JPL Premier National Champions. The national finals that took place in Rectory Park, Northolt, saw the Stones managed by Steve Booth top their group after an intense battling performance against their opponents to finish the day victorious.
The journey to the finals started in January when Wealdstone U11s were seeded in the premier group of the Middlesex region. The team produced some fantastic displays and topped the group undefeated winning 4 out of 4 games scoring 14 goals along the way and conceding only 1 goal to book a place in showdown fixture against London Colney in the London's Regional Final. The winner would represent London in the JPL Premier National Pathway.
The game took place in Rectory Park on the 2nd of April. The Stones bossed the game from start to finish producing some mesmerising football and deservedly winning 4-2 (goals scored by PON, JB, IH and HS) to qualify to the National Semi-finals as the Champions of London.
The competition's format meant that the Champions of the London's region would face the Champions of the Midlands/Central England's region in the JPL National Semi-final. Wealdstone travelled to the City of Oxford to meet their strong opponents Oxford City for a place in the Finals. The fixture's timing and early kick-off meant that some of the Wealdstone players had to come back from their holidays to play the game, like ES and PON travelling from Winchester and Devon respectively and SV coming all the way from France, which shows the full commitment of the players and parents alike. Going back to the game, the hosts started on the front foot but soon after the quality of the Stones shone. JK put in a man of the match performance to score 4 goals added to it a goal from SV and a beckhamesque free kick from FB to seal a 6-0 victory.
At the Finals, Soccer Hub FC the Champions of the North, Saints South West Devon the Champions of the South and South West, Wealdstone FC the Champions of London and the Midlands/Central England all went head-to-head in a mini tournament format to decide England's best U11 team at one of the highest levels before academy football.
In the first game, Saints South West Devon beat Soccer Hub FC 5-0. Then, Wealdstone played Soccer Hub FC in a game that the Stones should avoid losing to keep their hopes alive. After a first half controlled by Wealdstone and full of missed chances when JK, JB and KP all came very close to hitting the ball in the back of the net, Soccer Hub took the lead in the second half against the run of play. Wealdstone boys showed a lot of determination to change the fate of the game. After wave after wave of attacks and missed chances by OW, AW and IH they had a great chance to equalize 8 minutes before full time when JK was fouled inside the box, but DD's penalty was saved by the opposition's excellent goal keeper. Then, 4 minutes from the end, KP finally opened the scoring for Wealdstone after a brilliant run between the defenders to go one on one with the Hub's goal keeper and a cool finish past him to the level the score. This lasted only 30 seconds when HS scored an explosive freekick from a very long range to turn the result upside down and give the Stones a very valuable 3 points in their quest for the big prize.
Wealdstone faced the very strong Saints South West Devon in the final decisive game, a must win game for the Stones if they want to be Champions. The Saints started the game better and had few chances to score first but were denied brilliantly by the Stones's goal keeper VD. Then, the 2 teams were sloppy and wasteful until the last seconds of the first half when SV scored a worldie freekick from halfway line to give Wealdstone a precious lead. SV put so much power into his shot causing him a leg injury and was stretched off to hospital, his team had to continue the game without their star player. In the second half, the Wealdstone players showed their grit to defend their lead and were challenged by injuries to 3 more of their important players. DD, FB and PP in defence resisted all the Saints's attempts to level the score. The Stones themselves had few chances to double the scoreline but didn't take them. Every Wealdstone player put in a quality battling performance to help their team cross the finishing line. The final whistle blew, it was music to their ears and their celebrations started. Wealdstone FC U11 JPL team are now the Premier National Champions. Their deserved victory is a result of their great talent as well as dedication and many months of hard work put in by all the players led by their manager Steve Booth, not to forget the indefinite support and commitment from their parents.

Wealdstone Youth FC score with funding success
|
There’s good news for Ruislip as Wealdstone Youth FC have been awarded a £5000 Pitch Preparation Fund grant from the Premier League, The FA and the Government’s Football Foundation.
The Pitch Preparation Fund was set up in support of the game, which is currently facing unprecedented challenges because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The Fund is providing grants to clubs that have lost out on normal revenue streams during this difficult period.
The funding will enable Wealdstone Youth FC, who play in the Harrow Youth football league, Harrow soccer combination and the Capital Girl’s League, to prepare their football pitches so that they are match-fit for when it is safe to play football again, following Government advice.
They can use their grant towards to help pay for the cost of materials, work such as verti-draining, chain harrowing, rolling, over-seeding, fertilising, weed-killing, and routine preparatory work such as grass cutting and the setting out and line-marking of pitches.
Clubs and other organisations are also being given access to the Football Foundation Grounds keeping Community. This is a free online resource the Foundation developed with The FA and the Grounds Management Association, containing advice and guidance. Anyone in the Middlesex area can sign up at https://thefa.hivelearning.com/groundskeeping.
Kieran Quinn, Club Secretary at Wealdstone Youth FC, said: “its brilliant for Wealdstone Youth FC to receive the Football Foundation funding for pitch preparation, this will make a massive difference to the 600+ boys and girls in our club. We are really grateful to the football foundation for their help with attaining the funding.”
Robert Sullivan, Interim Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “This is a vital grant to help Wealdstone Youth FC get their pitches match-fit.
“The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation exists to help provide quality infrastructure at the lower-levels of the game. Pitch Preparation Fund grants like this one are giving a helping hand to clubs across the country to get their playing surfaces ready for when the game is allowed to begin again following government advice.”
The Football Foundation is a charity funded by the Premier League, The FA and the Government, through Sport England.
For more information please contact: • Kieran Quinn, 07775794341, secretary@wealdstoneyouthfc.co.uk • Football Foundation Communications Team at events@footballfoundation.org.uk
The Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation is the largest sports charity in the UK. It champions and supports fair access to quality football facilities for everyone, regardless of postcode, gender, race, disability or place.
The Foundation receives money from the Premier League, The FA and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, through Sport England. This is matched with partnership funding and awarded as grants to create outstanding grassroots facilities that enable better games and attract more players, helping to transform communities.
The Football Foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary next year. Since 2000, it has awarded more than 17,300 grants to improve facilities worth more than £684m – including 829 artificial grass pitches, 3,175 natural grass pitches and 1,100 changing facilities. This has attracted an additional £870m of partnership funding – totalling over £1.5bn investment in grassroots football so far.
Through the Foundation, the Premier League, The FA, DCMS and Sport England have come together to create the National Football Facilities Strategy (NFFS) that will guide work over the next 10 years to transform many more local facilities. Local Football Facility Plans (LFFP) are being created to identify priority projects where demand is greatest, and the impact will be strongest and help stimulate the action required to deliver them.

Chairman Announcement
|
Wealdstone Youth FC makes a major announcement
|
Dear all the Wealdstone Youth Family
I hope this message finds you all safe and well.
I writing to inform you of a significant change to our amazing youth club.
It is with a very heavy heart that I have to inform you I will not be standing for re-election at this year’s AGM (original date 23rd June) but instead stand down as Chairman, for the following reasons;
During this pandemic like many of you my family and I have missed seeing other family members and we have decided to relocate from London to Hampshire to be closer to them and I will no longer be in Ruislip.
Also, after almost 4 years as both Elected and Acting Chairman I feel the time is right to let someone else have the opportunity to lead the mighty stones youth!!
I will always cherish the years I have spent as Chairman and I feel we have come such a long way, from the club I inherited. I feel confident that the most recent re-structure and adoption of the Exec Committee and Sub-Committees has created a robust decision making process that will stand the test of time whomever may be Chair.
The new structure means our most senior club officials on the Exec who are elected by the voting members of the club (1 vote per team, manager or coach) are able to be held accountable by those voting members. There will never be opportunity for a Chairman to be able to make all the decisions without Committee approval ever again as was custom and practice when I took over. It was vital for me to accomplish during my tenure a broader decision making process to allow for truth, transparency and accountability now and for the future and I am proud to have achieved this.
Moving Forward
The Exec have decided at our last meeting to postpone the scheduled AGM because of the pandemic and my stepping down by at least a month to the 22nd of July, I will however be stepping down as I say on the original date 23rd June. During the meeting the Exec unanimously voted to appoint on my proposal an Acting Chairman for an interim period between the date of the original and the rescheduled AGM. I am very pleased to announce that Spencer Dargue will be your new Acting Chairman as of the 24th June!!
Spencer has been at the club for 6 years and as well as running his own side he has been our Tournament Director for many of those years and also part of the committee before the restructure. He is someone who has shared my vision for Wealdstone Youth to grow into a bigger club and the ambitions of having our own ground at Sidmouth and also our own club house and winter training facility in the future. I reiterate this will be for an interim period only until the rescheduled AGM in July, where Spencer and any other interested candidates will be able to stand for election for the role as Elected Chair, as per the constitution.
Exec as of the 24th June Acting Chairman - Spencer Dargue Club Secretary - Kieran Quinn Vice Chair - Ronnie Welch Treasurer - Mark Chorlton Head of Welfare - Lewis Boulter Webmaster - Rob Davis (Currently seconded only - on to the Exec on a rolling monthly basis during the pandemic).
In my opinion the Exec are all very safe pairs of hands to steer the club in the right direction now and in the years to come. They all work tremendously hard to make sure everything is done right and in line with FA and league guidelines to the letter and ultimately work tirelessly at what is best for all the children at the club.
Thank You
It has been an honour and a privilege to serve the club as Chair and do my part to drive forward progress and be part of Wealdstone Youth FC’s history.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Committee members, Club Officials, Managers & Coaches, players & parents past and present for all the support, advice, guidance and friendship. I feel very lucky and honoured to have had the opportunity to lead Wealdstone Youth FC and I look forward to seeing the club continuing on its journey of success and growth for the future and to visiting and seeing you all again.
I will not get the chance to see you all before I leave so from my heart to you all goodbye for now.
Warmest regards and thank you Wealdstone Youth Family…. UTS..!! Jason Jason Hunter | Chairman

An update on when Wealdstone Youth FC will be returning to training
|
As you are all aware, on the 30th May 2020 the Government announced changes and relaxation to the measures in place regarding COVID19 and outdoors exercise. Subsequently on the 1st June 2020, the FA updated their stance following the Government change and produced a set of guidelines to enable grassroots football to return to training only.
Please click on the link below for the current FA guidance:
http://www.thefa.com/news/2020/jun/01/grassroots-football-covid-19-guidance-update-010620
The guidance whilst outlining that training / fitness is allowed in groups of 6 persons (including the manager), it also sates that FA Safe Guarding Policies are to be met, Activities are to be risk assessed, Parents / carers consent to return to training is required and that strict hygiene measures are in place.
WYFC have put together a COVID19 operational plan and a COVID19 Risk Assessment, covering all aspects from travelling to training, this has been required to be sent to the Middlesex FA for acceptance, WYFC are the 1st club to do this and is actually ahead of the guidance from the MFA which is not due until Monday the 8th June 2020.
As per the FA Guidelines, we currently cannot allow training to be undertaken under the Wealdstone Youth FC banner, without having the correct risk assessments and safe guarding and hygiene measures in place which have been accepted by the MFA. This is to ensure all our members safety and limit the risk of COVID19 in line with current Government guidance, PH England and the FA / MFA.
If managers / coaches undertake training without implementing and following our accepted guidelines and measures they could lose their FA Coaching liscence, there could be potential safeguarding issues and most importantly children and the coaches are not covered under Wealdstone Youth FC and the MFA insurances for liability and accident cover.
On a more Positive note;
Our first draft plans have been accepted by the MFA, but we need to wait for their final update on Monday, so we can ensure we are fully compliant and get final sign off. These plans with a 'do's and dont's' sheet will be issued out to all, for your information and undertaking mid next week. This is in order for managers, coaches, parents and players to ensure compliance with the measures.
Furthermore we will issue next week a plan for training slots, days & times for all teams which they will need to book and stick to, please note there will be limited spaces for each time slot, so we remain compliant with numbers and space available.
Lastly if the club, managers, coaches and parents are able to provide the required items as outlined within the plan, then potentially all being well we can recommence training from; Week Commencing the 15th June 2020, however further updates confirming this are to follow next week.
A Parents / Carer's decision is final on whether their child attends training or not and managers / coaches are not to make parents / carer's feel that they have to attend because training has recommenced, there are further individual / personal issues which need to be considered such as those who are vulnerable, shielding, or self isolating or who are just not comfortable with returning to training at this time.
I apologise for the long message, however WYFC Exec need to ensure you are fully up to date and fully understand what has to happen behind the scenes for WYFC members to get back to training.
It has taken a great effort over the last few weeks to ensure this is possible, please do hold out and bearwith us for the next couple of weeks, its not long now.
Any Issues or questions with the above please contact me at secretary@wealdstoneyouthfc.co.uk

Kieran

Coronavirus Update
|
An update on Coronavirus and Grass Roots Football
|
Wealdstone Youth FC Officials have contacted Middlesex FA this morning and they have re-confirmed thier position regarding grass roots football and the COVID19 Pandemic.
The advise has not changed see below link, however they have said they are monitoring the situation daily and further updates will follow as the situation evolves.
http://www.middlesexfa.com/news/2020/mar/08/coronavirus-update
With the above being reconfirmed and subsequent discussions with the welfare team members and the executive committee we would like to state the following:
At present all grass roots football is to continue as per the FA, MFA and League guidance, however as a club the executive committee and welfare teams will unreservedly & fully support and back any manager, coach, team or parents who do not wish to continue training or with matches at this difficult and unprecedented time.
It is entirely up to our members, if they chose they no longer want to participate in grass roots football at this point in time.
As we have stated this is a very quickly changing situation and updates and changes are being made daily, we will obviously keep you fully updated with the latest news as and when we recieve it from the necessary authorities and bodies.
We do ask however that any parent or child that has cold or flu symptoms or that may either be high risk personally or are around potential high risk or vulnerable family members, that they do not attend training and follow the necessary guidance of the NHS and that of Public Health England.
Please see official links below:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response
Please can we refrain from posting unconfirmed or outdated information on the groups relating to the COVID19 Pandemic please or having conversations regards current situations with cancellation of grass roots football, as this can cause confusion to other members and might not be correct information.
The club will keep you informed as the situation changes and will remain fluid with its decisions regarding football and safety of our club members.
Thank you for your patience, support and understanding at this difficult time.

|
Wealdstone Youth FC Under 8s reach this years Nationals with fantastic results
|
Wealdstone Youth Under 8 Team played in this years Nationals. The Nationals is the league winners and cup winners of every league across the country.
John Price says "Our boys came 2nd in there group beating Liverpool and Leicester along the way. Unfortunately our team was knocked out by Manchester losing 6-5 on penalties in sudden death. The boys were outstanding all day on and off the pitch, going over to Manchester team wishing them luck and giving them three cheers. Huge respect was given to them by all teams as you can see from the Manchester team who wanted their picture with the Wealdstone boys. To add, all the teams we played had academy signed boys for big clubs like Liverpool, Utd, City, Everton, Leicester and Burnley so this is some achievement by our boys today who have put Wealdstone on the map!!"
Well done to the boys, Manager and Coaches
